Tibia is a game developed by Cipsoft in which NoxiousOT is based. While Tibia has evolved greatly, NoxiousOT was branched from version 8.6 of Tibia.

Many players prefer to play NoxiousOT since Tibia is now a pay-to-win game full of microtransactions and it is also too easy to level up, removing the grinding factor that thrills many players, specially old-school ones.

NoxiousOT has many ressemblances to Tibia:

1. Map: The main land as well as some islands, although many places differ
2. Quests: Some Quests are the same although some have been altered, added or removed
3. Items: Most items work the same in both games, although some have been added or removed
